Suny Samson

Comprehensive Classical Teacher
PMA®-Certified Pilates Teacher
Owner – Operator

Suny came to the beautiful Pemberton Valley in the summer of 2014 to open a Pilates studio and have a place to call home! She fulfilled her comprehensive Classical Pilates teacher training in San Francisco, CA from 2002-04 and has had the opportunity to travel extensively worldwide offering her services as a Pilates teacher, performer and workshop facilitator.

Suny originally comes from a ballet & modern dance background where she was introduced to Pilates during a summer intensive at Montreal’s L’Ecole Superieur de Ballet du Quebec as a test group. That summer, her group was the only injury free students after a grueling summer of intensive training. She was re-introduced to Pilates in 2001 to assist her recovery from a debilitating injury and realized she could not live without it!

Suny’s initial Pilates teacher training included both the Classical and Contemporary approach of the Pilates Method, as well as fundamental elements of Feldenkrais. She has additional teacher training in Hatha & Anusara yoga, LV 1 Yamuna Body Rolling and anatomy & physiology. She has studied additionally with Pilates master teachers Jennifer Stacey, Amy Taylor Alpers, Ron Fletcher and Kathy Cory. She continues her education in the Classical Method through the Pilates Method Alliance® (PMA®) certification program, and through The Master’s Program for Continuing Education through The Pilates Center in Boulder, CO.

As a dancer, Suny was a recipient of a Canada Council Grant for the Arts, as well as the Main Dance scholarship in support of her 2nd & 3rd-year apprenticeship as a modern dancer. She also received full scholarship for intensive study at L’Ecole Superieur de Ballet du Quebec. Suny is currently a meditation student through the Tan-Tri-Ahura Teachings of Bio-Spiritual Mastery ™.

Lora Postma

Certified Classical Pilates Teacher

Lora discovered Pilates in 1998 and was so inspired by the results she felt in her own body and mind, that 2 years after that she entered her first 2 year apprenticeship and Pilates certification program. She taught Pilates for 12 years, taking many Continuing Education workshops along the way, always seeking to develop and enhance her understanding of movement and the human body as expressed through the Pilates Method. In 2012 she embarked on another extensive Classical Pilates certification program through The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado. She completed this study in early 2016 and feels this has deeply influenced how she approaches The Method.

Lora is also a Registered Massage Therapist, graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 1997. This extensive training allows her a deeper understanding of the issues her Pilates clients are dealing with and directly informs her choices when teaching. In the last couple years Lora has also been involved in the Indoor Cycling movement. She has found that the combination of “smart” cardio, taught with Concentration, Control, Precision, Flow, Breath, (the very same things that are the foundation of the Pilates Method) allows her clients to expand and explore their bodies in new and powerful ways.

In her spare time Lora enjoys recreational cycling, hiking, backpacking, cross-country skiing and swimming in alpine lakes. She is obsessed with Tiny Houses, loves to read and make dinner for her friends and get taken out for brunch!
Lora is loving working at Pemberton Pilates!
